The Power of Staying in One Place

Driving down a busy road – in a rush to get somewhere, feeling a bit flustered and very much rushed, you’re sometimes inclined to wonder if the world will ever make any sense.

And then you stop at a red light perhaps, and see a bunch of lilies gently swaying in the breeze right next to you…

Why do flowers move us so much?

It’s certainly their exquisite beauty and fragrance, but it’s also their delicacy. In a world moving faster and faster, a flower is evidence that you can stand for something, that you can move another human being, while staying absolutely still.

That something so gentle and delicate can survive and blossom and continue to exist peacefully as we rush past is proof enough for me that the world does make sense after all.
