The differnece between a Brand and a commodoty

Here's one way to look at it:

  • The action movie hero is the Brand
  • The stuntman who makes him look good is the commodity

The hero cannot be replaced (or there are very few choices) so he commands a king's ransom for his performance.

The stuntman is unknown to the public and therefore replaceable and so makes a lot less for a much more dangerous and difficult job.

I Watched the Quantum of Solace over the weekend which triggered this train of thought. Great movie BTW.

PS: No offense intended to any stuntmen - just making a point.
